Known as the Art of 8 Limbs. Muay Thai has rich cultural roots and a long history as the national fighting sport of Thailand. This is an intense workout program that will help you develop massive power in your striking abilities. Learn lots of effective combinations using Punches, Elbows, Knees, Kicks and the famous Muay Thai clinch. Reticent Warrior Muay Thai will help you to get in the absolute best shape of your life while building mental toughness. Although Muay Thai is a sport, the strikes you learn can easily be used for self-defense.
With Reticent Warrior Muay Thai, you will always start class with a warmup followed by learning technical striking and eventually using all 8 limbs. You will learn how to properly hold Muay Thai pads (an important skill) and work with a training partner. Pad work includes Muay Thai pads, punching mitts and heavy bags which are key components of training and developing power in Muay Thai. After you learn the fundamentals and develop some real skill, you will then be allowed to do some light partner sparring to further develop your distance management, timing and fight IQ. Again this only occurs after you have built a solid foundation because the safety of our students must always come first. As you progress you will have the option to participate in Hard sparring which is always voluntary. Hard sparring should only be done occasionally and with caution to avoid long-term, cumulative blows to the head.
