Integrated Survival Combatives (ISC)
Integrated Survival Combatives or ISC is a two-day reality based training course that uses multiple models of instruction. ISC is not a sport or a martial art and there are no rules. This personal protection system is designed to quickly and effectively cause a severe (disabling) injury to a criminal attacker who is an immediate threat for causing you serious bodily injury or death. It is not designed for sport competitions or bar brawls (social violence) to support your ego. You should always walk away from social violence i.e. intimidation and social aggression to see who is the biggest Alpha. ISC uses everything that is illegal in a fighting competition and is detrimental to your attacker. ISC is designed to save your life when everything is on line and to use maximum force that equals the threat. It is designed so most anyone can learn and use the system effectively but you must develop the mindset to inflict serious injury or death to a criminal attacker who is attempting to take your life. That is why the first portion of the course deals specifically with mindset and the when and where to use ISC. As the name implies, Integrated Survival Combatives is for your survival when deadly force is justified and accessing weapons is an integral part of the system. Research and extensive personal experience reveals that causing someone pain is not enough to stop a committed violent attacker. You must cause a disabling injury to quickly and definitively end their ability to continue.
This course was designed in Tiers III, II and I for Law Enforcement and Military Personnel under the direct threat of death or serious injury but is now available (with some modifications) to the men and women of the general public. The initial training for Citizen Level I is two days (16 hours) but can be customized to meet specific needs. Levels II and III are also 16 hours each and must be taken in order. While you do need to have the fundamentals of pistol handling down, there are no other pre-requisites for Level I except the age requirement of 18 or older since we are teaching skills that could easily end a life. After Level 1 you will possess the fundamental knowledge and skills that will allow you to immediately protect yourself from a criminal assault.
Topics Covered
Awareness/Avoidance/Assessment, Criminal Intent Indicators (CINS), Mindset, Managing Fear, Decision Making, Distance Management, Fight Theory, Target Focus, Covers, Strikes of all varieties, Critical Combinations, Grappling, Ground Fighting, Weapon retention, access and usage during the fight and escape. All students will gain an understanding of what types of violence to walk away from and the type where there is no choice but to fight for your life. Students will learn the legal aspects and the realities of criminal assault, imminent danger, use of force, justifiable force, deadly force and so much more.
We start very slow so those with no previous fight training can learn the basics. We train each technique slowly and gradually add speed as skill acquisition improves. Students will slowly progress to striking pads and by the end of the second day, students will participate in force-on-force training with a padded instructor/attacker. This is as real as we can make it and still protect you the student. This allows you to fully understand your real abilities under stress to survive a life threatening attack by using your own body as a weapon.
Requirements
Protective mouth piece, protective cup and workout clothes such as T-shirt, shorts or sweatpants, note taking materials, water and snacks. Hand wraps are recommended but not required. We train on a large matted area so no street shoes are allowed. Wrestling shoes and martial art shoes specifically designed for mats that have never been worn off the mat are allowed. We will break one hour each day for lunch.
Location
Combatives training is held at The Reticent Warrior Training Center inside Top Shelf Ammo, 1370 US Hwy 80, Pooler, Georgia. This is a fully equipped training facility with classroom, audio/visual, training floorspace, mats, heavy bags, striking shields and pads, plus training weapons, laser pistols and a changeable Close Quarter Battle (CQB) environment.
